Kit helps developers gain fast entry into the world of
embedded ARM processors
Kontron recently announced the ready-to-use SMARC Starterkit. The kit offers developers fast
entry into the world of embedded ARM processors, which is now highly scalable owing to SMARC
Computer-on-Modules. The kit comes in a sturdy transport case, has all the cables already connected and is equipped with all the necessary components, including a display and power supply.
All Kontron SMARC Computer-on-Modules can be selected individually and – as an option – the
SMARC Starterkit can be delivered with pre-installed module, operating system, Board Support
Package and cooling solution. This allows developers to immediately launch into evaluation of
their desired ARM platform. The company offers a selection of SMARC specification conform
module families based on ARM Cortex A9 and A8 processors from Freescale, Texas Instruments
Platform connects Raspberry Pi, Arduino and 32-bit
element14 launched the low cost triple-play Embedded Pi platform that bridges the
design worlds of Raspberry Pi, Arduino and 32 bit embedded ARM. The new platform allows the Raspberry Pi to interface directly with Arduino shields. It features an
STMicroelectronics STM32F103 microcontroller, is supported with design examples, and
users can download CooCox development tools, a free ARM development tool environment for the Cortex-M MCU. Raspberry Pi and the STM32 MCU can work independently
or in conjunction with each other to control the Arduino shields or other accessories.
Embedded Pi connects to the GPIO on the Raspberry Pi and is form factor compatible
with both 5-V and 3.3-V Arduino shields, selectable with jumpers.
